The French Canadian settlers were the first one to come down to Milwaukee, there were traders from Canada and France who had arrived in the city of Milwaukee to look for trade opportunities.

Much of the early growth of Milwaukee is credited to Lake Michigan, as many early settlers arrived into the city because they found it easy to settle by the shores of the lake.
There were three settlements early on namely, Juneau town, Kilbourntown, and Walker's Poin.
There was even an early war to take control, of a bridge, but eventually things got sorted out, and all the three settlements came together to put together a city called Milwaukee.
