Milwaukee, the largest city of Wisconsin is located in United States Of America. It is located on the south west shore of Michigan lake. The city of Milwaukee was found by French Canadian Solomon Juneau in 1818. During 1840's a lot of German people migrated to this city and since then the people have continued to move and thus making it 39th most populous region of united states. This city is mainly influenced by German heritage and is also known as "Deutsches Athen". During the revolution if 1848, lots of German immigrants settled in the city of Milwaukee. Much of the early growth of Milwaukee is credited to Lake Michigan, as many early settlers arrived into the city because they found it easy to settle by the shores of the lake.

There were three settlements early on namely, Juneau town, Kilbourntown, and Walker's Poin.

There was even an early war to take control, of a bridge, but eventually things got sorted out, and all the three settlements came together to put together a city called Milwaukee.

The city of Milwaukee in Wisconsin is formed by combining a few settlements of native tribes of America. The first immigrants coming to this city were the French trappers and traders. The settlements started increasing from the 1830s and by the year 1837 the city became quite populated. In later part of the 19th century around the 1850s, German immigrants started coming to this city. Till date the influence of German culture is pretty strong on Milwaukee area.

One of the major events in the history of Milwaukee is the Bay View Massacre of 1886. In this incident the National guardsmen intercepted the striking steelworkers following the order of the Wisconsin Governor.

As far as the geographic area is concerned, Milwaukee stands 23rd in the list of biggest citied of USA. The area of Milwaukee is 251.69 square km. This city is located by the shores of the Lake Michigan. The exact location can be described as the confluence of the 3 major rivers: Milwaukee, Menomonee and Kinnickinnic. This area includes 0.8% of water bodies.
