Milwaukee Zoo

Milwaukee boasts of a dedicated zoological society as well as the nationally renowned, Milwaukee County Zoo. It is home to more than 2,000 mammals, bird, fish, amphibians and reptiles, representing over 300 species. Its newest addition is the two-humped Bactrian Camel. It began as a miniature zoo in 1892 in Milwaukee's downtown Washington Park. It is among the top zoos of the nation and is actively involved in protection of endangered species.
