Milwaukee Art Museum
Milwaukee Art Museum, earlier known as the Milwaukee Art Center was formed in 1957, by merging the collections of Layton Art Gallery and Milwaukee Art Institute. The museum is located on the shores of Lake Michigan.
It is a three storey building and houses over 25000 pieces of art.
The museum is 341,000 square feet in size. It has the Quadracci pavilion built in the year 2001 by Spanish architect Santiago Caltrava, the Kahler building built by David kahler in the year 1975 and the War Memorial Centre designed by Eero Saarinen a Finnish American architect in the year 1957.
The museum has a large number of works by Georgia O'Keeffe and Gabriele Munter, the German Expressionist. At the museum, one will also find Post 1960 American Art, Haitian Art, German Expressionism, Folk Art, and American Decorative Arts. A collection of 19th and 20th century artwork and a collection of Old Masters are also housed at the museum.

In the year 2001, the Museum remodeled and renovated its collection galleries. The older galleries made way for galleries that are larger, brighter, and spacious and most importantly, are chronologically organized. This makes it convenient for visitors to view exhibits at the museum.
The Milwaukee Art Museum's dramatic architecture, scenic gardens and celebrated artworks make it a must visit for any one on their Milwaukee Wisconsin, travel trip. The museum is known to be a marvel both on the outside and the inside.
