
Milwaukee County Zoo
The Milwaukee County Zoo opened in 1958. Covering an area of 200 acres, it has about 1800 animals. It is famous for being home to the largest lot of 'bonobos', outside their native- Democratic Republic of Congo. It also has two world famous cheetahs from the National zoo. The first ever births in captivity, of polar bears and siamangs took place at the Milwaukee Zoo. When it first opened it had the grizzly bear den, monkey Island, feline house, the primate building and the pachyderm mall. It also had the 'Zoo line', a miniature train that took visitors around the zoo.
