People visiting the largest city in Wisconsin will get to experience its Harley-Davidson association in addition to its famous breweries and beers that are now sold all around the world. Welcome to the city of Milwaukee that offers everything from food to fun.

Tip 1 - Home to more than 2000 animals and over 320 different species of mammals, fish, reptiles and amphibians this is Milwaukee's pride. Starting in 1892 this zoo has slowly captured the imagination of the young and old. Apart from simply having animals on display there are programs for children to help understand animals better, workshops, food festivals and much more.

Tip 2 - Harley aficionados can visit the Harley Museum in Milwaukee to get a glimpse of how Harley engines are made. The museum exhibits include famous bikes ridden by legendary riders, Harley bikes that were also a part of the history. You can visit the clubs and competitions section, customized Harleys, Motorcycle galleries of years from 1903s to the present day.

Tip 3 - Beer enthusiasts can always visit the Beer Museum in Milwaukee which strove to preserve the rich heritage of local breweries and saloons. All history related to beer and beer making in the Milwaukee region is preserved at the beer museum. Some famous names attached to the beer museum are Miller Brewing Company. It is regularly frequented by history buffs and industry professionals alike. So don't give it a miss.

Tip 4 - Charles Allis Art Museum has a splendid collection of sculpture, print, painting and ceramics. One can see paintings from the 19th century by American artists of the time in addition to Japanese works and bowls and vases with lot of intricate details. Some of the ones you should look out for are vase having 1000 faces and bowl with 3000 butterflies on it.

Milwaukee Public Library

The Milwaukee Public Library in Milwaukee, Wisconsin is a public library system. It consists of 12 branches and a central library. The library's history dates back to the year 1847. It started with the Young Men's Association starting a subscription library. They rented space for it and collected dues from all its members.

In the year 1878, the state legislature authorized Milwaukee to start a public library, and this is when the city-sponsored library began. The association's rented space was taken over by the library, along with their collection of 10,000 volumes, most of which happened to be in German.

Currently at 814 W. Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee Public Library is a black, long building made of limestone. The headquarters for the Milwaukee County Federated Library System and for the Milwaukee Public Library System is the Central Library. In the year 1969, it was designated as a Milwaukee landmark.

For those keen to travel, Milwaukee offers many places to visit. The Milwaukee Public library is one of them. The library has a vast collection of books on various topics and subjects. The various sections include Children, Periodicals, Humanities, Art, Music and Recreation, Technology, Business and some rare books. It is also a library for patent depository. US patents from the year 1792 to the present are housed at the library.

Any Milwaukee WI travel is incomplete without a visit to the library, which is famous for its building. A competition was organized nationally to pick a design for the building that would house the public museum and public library.

There were a total of seventy four entries received. Ferry and Clas of Milwaukee submitted the winning design. It was for a one block long building which combined Italian and French renaissance styles. It had a common entrance for the library and the museum and was U-shape in design.
